Humility is not groveling. Humility is alignment. It is agreeing with reality: I need God’s presence. I need His empowering grace. I need His guidance. When I will to do His will, God comes to my aid.

The battle begins long before the outward act. The battle begins at the door, at the first stirrings of resentment, entitlement, lust, self-pity, or pride. Rule over it there, or it will rule you later.

Jesus said what is bound on earth is bound in heaven, and what is loosed on earth is loosed in heaven. That verse is often used for church authority, yet it also reveals a broader principle: human choices interact with spiritual realities.
