“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus… For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1–2, NKJV)
When ugly things get triggered, many people assume there is no growth. They feel like they are going backward. Ego collapses, and the inner voice becomes harsh. Self-condemnation rises. The person begins to interpret struggle as proof that nothing has changed.
This is why feedback is needed. A godly person can often see the work of God even when the struggling person cannot. A wise counselor understands that God often allows the ugly to show so it can be dealt with. Exposure is not the end. Exposure is the doorway. “If it don’t show up, I won’t grow up” is true even when it is uncomfortable. What shows up can be rewritten.
During these low seasons, the enemy loves to accuse. The heart condemns. The person believes he is disqualified. Yet Scripture says there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Conviction leads toward repentance and hope. Condemnation leads toward despair and isolation. Isolation then multiplies the problem because the person stops seeking help.
Godly counsel does the opposite of condemnation. It brings perspective. It reminds the person of grace. It helps distinguish between the fact of struggle and the direction of the heart. A person who is fighting, repenting, and seeking God is not the same as a person who is continuing in lawlessness. The presence of struggle can actually be evidence of life, because the dead heart does not fight.
So today, if I am in a low season, I will not interpret it as rejection. I will seek feedback. I will ask for prayer. I will stay connected. I will let the struggle teach me dependence. That is often where real victory is formed.
Reflection Question
When I struggle, do I isolate, or do I move toward God and toward godly people?
Prayer
Father, when I am low, keep me from condemnation. Help me see struggle as an invitation to deeper dependence, not proof of failure. Bring wise people around me who can speak truth, hope, and perspective. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Obedience Step for Today
Text or call one trusted person today and say, “I need prayer and perspective.” Share one specific struggle and invite them to speak honestly and biblically.
