Overcoming Trauma: Redeeming Pain

Life Sayings:

  • The spirit realm is a multiplier.

  • In the end, actions win.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20–21, NKJV)

"Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 18:18, NKJV)

Ephesians 3:20–21 is one of those verses that lifts my eyes and expands my expectations. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. The promise is real, yet the verse also contains a condition. The outcomes are “according to the power that works in us.” God-sized results are connected to an inside partnership.

God never designed my spirit to operate alone. My spirit was created to be a home for His presence. His Spirit is meant to be a renewable power source for everything He has called me to do. When I am connected to His power and He is given authority to work, the results can be far beyond what my natural ability could produce. The spirit realm multiplies.

God’s multiplication is never separated from His character. He will not join with me in anything contrary to His nature. He will not empower pride, manipulation, condemnation, or selfish ambition. Holiness and love always mark true partnership with Him. This means the question is not merely what I want God to do. The deeper question is what kind of person I am becoming as I ask.

Jesus said that faith the size of a mustard seed can move a mountain (Matthew 17:20). The Kingdom is like leaven hidden in dough (Matthew 13:33). Small things become big things in the spirit realm. This principle works in both directions. A tiny seed of lust can be multiplied into disaster. Jealousy and bitterness can grow into bondage. Spiritual seeds often start small and subconscious. Most people do not notice them until they have gained momentum in thoughts and emotions.

This is also how God often begins with us. He stirs a desire for more, for meaning, for purpose. At first it can feel like an ache rather than a clear direction. Over time, that stirring becomes conscious. Choices begin to form. The soul engages with thoughts and emotions. A crossroads appears. Will I make room for God, or will I feed something else?

Here is a crucial truth: God designed me as a unified whole. Spirit, soul, and body were meant to operate in partnership. Spiritual life is not spirit fighting body as if my body is the enemy. The real war is for partnership. Separation from God is spiritual death. Adam did not cease to exist when he sinned. He became separated from his power source, and that separation immediately began to corrupt what flowed through his entire being.

This is where another life saying becomes practical: in the end, actions win. Internal spiritual stirring does not establish lasting power until it flows into words and actions. Jesus said, “whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven” (Matthew 18:18, NKJV). Earth is where choices become concrete. Heaven in that verse speaks of the spiritual realm around us, the unseen space that influences and responds. A spirit can knock, yet a knock does not become a flow until there is a response. The body is where the answer happens.

The demonic seeks control, not partnership. It intimidates, manipulates, and energizes selfishness. Bondage grows when a person repeatedly gives space to dark impulses until they become normal. This can happen with little awareness, the same way breathing happens with little awareness. Spiritual connection often works beneath the surface. Humility attracts God’s presence. Selfishness attracts the demonic. Like is attracted to like.

Awareness changes the battle. I can learn to notice when my spirit is sliding into pride or bitterness. I can learn to recognize when God’s Spirit is knocking. This awareness is not enough by itself. The whole person must say yes. Spiritual flow starts in the spirit, must be embraced in the conscious realm, and must be established through obedient words and actions. The second mile Jesus described is not only an external act. It is a heart tool. What I choose willingly shapes what I become inwardly.

The spirit realm multiplies. Actions establish. God wants my whole heart, which means He wants my entire being. Spirit, soul, and body were created to partner with Him.

Reflection Question

Where have I been trying to experience God’s power without giving Him my full yes in spirit, soul, and body?

Prayer

Father, I give You my whole self today. I want Your presence in my spirit, Your truth shaping my thoughts and emotions, and Your will established through my actions. Expose any place where I am asking for Your power while holding on to selfishness or resistance. Teach me to recognize what is knocking at the door of my heart, and strengthen me to respond with obedience. Multiply Your life in me according to the power at work within me. Amen.

Today’s Step of Obedience

Choose one area where you have been spiritually stirred but not yet consistent in action. Write one specific “whole person yes” sentence that includes what you will do today. Follow it immediately with a concrete step that takes less than ten minutes, such as making the apology, deleting the temptation, setting the boundary, opening the Bible, or making the call.
