Life Sayings:
All things work by spiritual authority.
“So Jesus answered and said to them, ‘Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, "Be removed and be cast into the sea," and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.’” —Mark 11:22–23
“So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” —Ezekiel 22:30
We’ve all wondered why God doesn’t always move in an instant. Miracles happen. Breakthroughs come. But other times, despite deep faith and earnest prayer, nothing seems to change. If God is truly all-powerful, why the delay?
The answer lies in spiritual authority.
Hebrews 11:3 reminds us that the visible world was shaped by what is invisible. God spoke the universe into existence, but that authority was not left in a vacuum. It was given to mankind. Then, through sin, handed over to the enemy. Jesus took it back at the cross—and passed it on to us, His people.
God now operates in partnership with His people. Miracles do not bypass spiritual law. When God wants to move but people resist His ways, outcomes shift. As in Ezekiel’s time, God searched for someone to stand in the gap, to intercede, to invite His mercy. No one was found. Judgment fell—not because God desired it, but because spiritual law required it.
When someone humbly responds to God, repents, and prays with bold faith, the miraculous becomes possible. But when pride, selfishness, or unbelief dominates the heart, spiritual authority weakens. Often, those most desperate for a miracle are focused on their own outcome rather than God’s glory. In that case, He may withhold what would only deepen self-focus.
I’ve seen both sudden breakthroughs and long, slow journeys. Often the key difference is the level of surrender. Miracles are not random. They are the result of unseen conditions being met—conditions often rooted in the heart.
God’s goal is not just to change our circumstances. His deeper goal is to change us. When our hearts align with His, spiritual authority flows. When our motives are pure, bold declarations carry power. And when doubt is overcome by trust, the mountain moves.
Reflection Question
Am I more focused on what I want God to do for me—or on what God wants to do in me through this situation?
Prayer
Father, I trust that You are at work, even when I don’t see the results I long for. Search my heart. Expose anything in me that would hinder Your authority from flowing. Teach me to seek You more than I seek outcomes. Strengthen my faith, and help me hear Your voice clearly when it's time to speak boldly. Amen.
Today’s Step of Obedience
Pause and invite God to search your heart. Write down one area where you’ve been more focused on the miracle than on partnering with Him. Surrender that desire afresh and ask for guidance on how to walk with Him in faith—whether the breakthrough comes today or not.
